Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior representative stated the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
